The Divi developer API version is here
If you have a website built with the Divi Theme then you have probably noticed the unusual lack of updates recently. The main reason for this is that the team at Elegant Themes have been busy working hard on a new Divi developer API version which was released on 19th April 2018 with Divi 3.1 .
What is Divi 3.1?
Divi 3.1 introduces the Divi Developer API, which “opens up Divi with a new API for developers that makes it easy to create custom modules that are compatible with Divi’s Visual Builder.” The update gives 3rd party Divi developers previously unavailable tools and documentation to create 3rd party Divi plugins.
What does Divi 3.1 do for me as a non-devloper?
Whislt it may seem like Divi 3.1 doesn’t really effect you as an average end user, Elegant Themes described this update as “the biggest and most ambitious update that we have tackled since the release of Divi 3.0 well over a year ago”.
Most Divi users won’t be building plugins and modules with the new features available in 3.1, but they can still benefit from how the 3rd party plugin market will develop from here on out.
Even if you are not using the new API to create Divi plugins, you may well start to see some changes from the new release. The main improvement for the average, non-developer, user is that the Divi visual builder will now be compatable with 3rd party Divi plugins, so you no longer have to use them in the back end builder.
Going forward, the new API is also likely to lead to an increase in the number, and quality of 3rd party plugins available to the Divi community.

EP75 – Divi Developer Edition 3.1 – Our First Impressions:
Feature Divi updates coming soon
With the huge task of creating Divi 3.1 out of the way (bar bug fixes and any further developments) the team at Elegant Themes are back to work improving other eareas of the theme, so I would assume that we will be seeing quite a lot of new feature updates in the coming weeks and months. I’m hoping to see more header and footer options, more column options and maby even a fix for that Divi jumping header!
